How to Get from Charlotte to the Emerald Coast
Driving to 30A
The Queen City is 549 miles from Santa Rosa Beach on Florida’s Scenic 30A. It is an easy 9.5-hour drive via I-85 or I-77. The I-85 route takes travelers through major cities such as Atlanta and Montgomery. I-77 traverses through other large towns in the south, including Columbia, Augusta, and Albany. Packing up your car and heading out on an epic family-friendly vacation has never been easier.
With several route options, travelers should always check for construction delays or traffic issues before departing.
Driving is a fantastic, budget-friendly option for those who enjoy a classic road trip, like to travel with their own beach gear, or prefer to have their own vehicle while on vacation.

Flying to the Emerald Coast
If you prefer to fly, there are plenty of options. From Charlotte International Airport (CLT), travelers can book their flight to two different airports. Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is located in Panama City Beach (47minutes) and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) in Okaloosa County (56 minutes).
Several major airlines, such as Delta, Southwest, and United, offer flights to ECP and VPS. For easy travel, American Airlines has a direct flight from Charlotte to Panama City Beach.
Flying is a great choice for those with limited time for their getaway, who prefer to avoid traffic and logistics, or who want upfront travel costs.
Upon arriving, visitors can choose to rent a car at the airport or hire a ride-share for transportation to Adagio. Once at Adagio, there are a plethora of activities, attractions, and restaurants within an easy walk or bike ride. Our guests love to jump on the Timpoochee Trail and pedal to nearby events or to explore the Emerald Coast.
Travel Tips
Plan ahead: By planning ahead, vacationers allow themselves plenty of time to prepare for an upcoming adventure. In turn, this reduces stress, offers room to make changes, allows you to build the perfect itinerary, and gives everyone in your party ample time to pack.
Check the weather: Weather can greatly impact travel, whether by car or air. Check the weather before departing home, including your travel route and destination. This will help you make any last-minute adjustments to your plan and packing.
Pack accordingly: Your preferred mode of travel from Charlotte to the Emerald Coast will dictate how you pack. If you are driving your own vehicle to 30A, then you will have plenty of room to pack beach equipment, including a cooler, bikes, beach chairs, and sand toys. If you are flying, we have you covered.
